Ofsted to revisit Suffolk County Council (21st - 23rd January 2019)
Ofsted and CQC Inspectors will be revisiting Suffolk to assess our system-wide progress in meeting the needs of Children and Young People with SEND from Monday 21st January to Wednesday 23rd January 2019. In preparation for the revisit, Ofsted have requested that we work together across our system to ensure that all parents and carers of children and young people with any SEND support need are made aware of the revisit and how they can make their views known. I would therefore be grateful if you would ensure that the attached letter is shared with all parents and carers of children and young people within your setting that fall into this remit at the earliest opportunity and by Monday 14th January 2019 at the very latest if your pupils attend each day – or as soon as possible thereafter if their attendance is part time.
I would very much appreciate your support in this, as our effectiveness in distributing this letter across our system is in itself an indication of how well the whole system works to support children and young people with SEND. I would also ask you to encourage all parents to respond to the survey so that we get a balanced view to inspectors of the progress we have made as well as the areas that continue to need further work. I would therefore be grateful if you could remind parents about the survey through any other channels that you use for communication, such as Facebook, twitter, and internal newsletters during the period the survey is open.
Suffolk Parent Carer Network have informed me of their intention to follow up with their members next week on this matter so it would be really positive if we can indicate through this follow up that there has been a very wide distribution of the letter.
I will be in contact again over the coming week if we need to ask for your specific help in meeting the requests coming forward from inspectors as we plan for the revisit.
With sincere thanks for your help in this matter
