Mental Health and Emotional Well-being statement of intent

The Ashley School Academy Trust aims to promote positive mental health and well-being for everyone in our school community. We are passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of the pupils and families who are part of our community.

Working in partnership with families and building positive relationships with pupils and families is an area we work hard to achieve and place at the centre of our work. We take a holistic approach to supporting pupils and families right from the start of their Ashley School journey, from the first home visit during transition to the exciting Year 11 Graduation & Celebration evening.

We aim to look after each other and ourselves. Our structures, policies and processes are designed to place wellbeing at the forefront. Our curriculum supports personal development through well thought through and structured personal, social and health education, including relationships education, which is reviewed regularly, and is responsive to the changing needs of our pupils.

Opportunities beyond our curriculum promote active and healthy lifestyles. With the opportunities to participate in residential stays, activities within the locality, sporting events, summer school and family social events, there is something to suit everyone.

We are a community which celebrates diversity and has a focus upon understanding each other and learning empathy towards others. Our commitment to kindness, supports us all.

Where mental health and well-being needs are identified for anyone in our community, be it pupils, staff, parents or carers, our goal is to listen, reassure and signpost access to universal and specialist support, with compassion and without judgement.
