About Us
We are an Outstanding outward looking and successful school for children with complex moderate learning difficulties. All pupils have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for their educational needs. These plans are mainly for moderate learning difficulties, however many pupils have associated disabilities such as speech, language and communication difficulties, autism and/or social, emotional, mental health needs. The school is not appropriate for conduct disorder or other social, emotional and behavioural/ mental health difficulties that present an ongoing significant risk to others.
The Ashley School Academy Trust is a special school for both boys and girls from Year 3 to Year 11 and includes term-time Residential provision.
We are committed to providing exceptional opportunities for all our pupils.
The Ashley School Academy Trust has been awarded Outstanding in the most recent OfSTED inspection (May 2023) and our Residential provision was also rated as Outstanding in its most recent joint Ofsted/Social Care inspection (November 2024).

Our Facilities
Library
Our library at the Ashley School is a warm and welcoming space where reading for pleasure is embraced and encouraged for all our pupils.
We have a wide range of books on offer from picture books, graphic novels and audio books to an extensive selection of non-fiction books and children’s newspapers.
Pupils have a say in the new books that are ordered each year to keep the bookshelves up to date, interesting and relevant. Every pupil enjoys weekly library sessions where books can be shared and borrowed using our Junior Librarian computer system. This system allows pupils to search for their favourite authors, different genres and fully explore the wealth of books that are available.
Swimming Pool
Our swimming pool is ideal for learners.
Our swimming pool is also available for hire by the local community and is currently used by local swimming clubs and organisations outside of school hours.
